Hello, everyone.

I welcome you to my blog. One thing about life is that you can never know it all; sometimes you feel like you know it, and then you either meet people or have an experience that convinces you that there is nothing like knowing it all in life. No matter how hard you try and how hard you work to know it all, you cannot. Sometimes thinking we know it all is why many of us get to learn from experience, and trust me, experience is not the best teacher.

It is better you learn from other people's experiences than to have yourself have the experience firsthand. There are experiences that, after they happen to you, your life will never remain the same, and we are not talking about a positive change; here we are talking about a negative change that, if care is not taken, one might never recover from, and these might be things they must have been warned about but paid deaf ears to.

There are many things I am dealing with today that, if I had listened to my parents, things would have been different for me and my entire family today. If only I had listened and stopped claiming like I knew it all, things would have been a lot better than they are now. Back then we used to think we were the new generation, and we knew better and felt like our parents were old school, and for that reason many of their suggestions that would have bettered our lives were completely ignored and not given any attention, and today we have grown up to see that they were right and we were wrong.

Growing up there, there was no type of pressure my mom put on me to learn a skill, but I refused, claiming I wanted to become a professional footballer, and with football money, I won't need a skill. She kept saying the country we live in doesn't support that type of dream, but I was adamant and always asked the question, "Are Nigerians not playing football?" I was too blind to see ahead; I felt like she was old school, and learning a skill was also old school, and I pursued my football dream and trained hard, but guess who does not even play football anymore? It's me; it's been close to four years since I last played football, and every day I wish I had learned a skill, and now I would have focused on bettering my skill.

Growing up made me realize our parents are not old school at all; they just saw things differently and could see the things our pride and ego stop us from seeing.
