So, over the long weekend, I got to sit down and finally play some Boss Monster!
I snagged this at a brand new local tabletop shop that opened last month, and between kids and work and homeownership, we didn't really have a chance to actually play it until the long weekend when one of our best friends was able to pop over.
We ran the kids out of energy playing with them, put em to bed... and cracked open some locally-made mead. (Because boardgames and drinks pair well).
The game's rules are pretty simple to pick up and within ten minutes we were building our dungeons! Being the first time playing, I didn't realize how important the early heroes would be to gobble up. Elite heroes are no joke!
In the early game, it looked like our buddy was going to win for sure - and then my wife played a sneaky card and in the course of one turn... He was out. Ripped apart by marauding Elite Heroes.
I was on shaky ground by then too, looking down the barrel of a single turn left before my death.
With a stroke of luck, I managed to survive the next turn, get some magic spell cards, and the next turn, I was able to leverage them to my advantage - sweeping in for a clutch win against my wife.
Super fun little game, I had a blast playing it and will definitely be running through this game again. Might have to pick up some of the expansions too, because holy cow this was fun.
