I woke up to a gift from my cousin today - a copy of WARDOGS, which he described as "the closest thing to the magic of Battlefield Bad Company I've played since then". We both put... gosh, thousands of hours into BF:BC back in the day, and it has since been a bar by which we compare basically every other shooter.

Now, it's also WARDOGS' Alpha Release day, so... you know what that means!

Well... guess I'll play this tomorrow! lol

The rest of my day has been working and plotting D&D. We're going into Session 18 of my campaign, and I'm trying to finally toss in some character stuff that's been sitting on a backburner for a while. I think it's going well so far, but I had one character yet who's mostly been just... there. Doing cool stuff, and a great part of the team, but not really having a shining moment of her own. So, I've been trying to think of what to do about that, and I think I finally figured it out while I was eating lunch.

I'm not going to spoil anything, in case my players read this (I'm sure they won't, but, on the off chance they do it's best to keep this one tight to my chest until the table reveal). It'll be fun though, for sure. My players are going to have a lot to discuss by the end of our session!

I've also been reading through Shadowdark since I got it on the weekend. I finally have finished my initial rummage through the book, and it looks like it's going to be a very fun rpg.

They've got a free Solo TTRPG supplement on the website, so I've downloaded that and plan to take a character (or several) through a couple of sessions to get a feel for the game itself now that I've read through the rules.

Like Knave / Knave 2e, it's got a ton of roll-tables that I really like. I think I may honestly bring Knave to the table when I'm playing Shadowdark, just for a bit of extra tables to roll on.

Also, speaking of Knave 2e - Shadowdark is also using basically the same Slot system, and while my initial review of the system wasn't particularly favourable to the slot-based inventory management... I think I'm going to give it another try.

I've played a ton of other TTRPGs in the two years since I first looked at Knave, and I'm willing to concede that maybe I was wrong about this system. I'm willing to at least give it another try before I say "that inventory system isnt for me" and ignore it. I'll try to notate my play in such a way that I can blog about it. Likely not in /freewriters - but, it'll be here somewhere if I can manage to take semi-readable notes.

Anyhow, that's unfortunately all the time I have for ramblin' today.
