Spooky season is upon us, and you know what that means...

It's been an... eventful... week or so. Massive family drama on my side of the family that I won't discuss, paired with a return to hockey (this time for both the 5yo and 8yo), and a surprise flooded bathroom, have all conspired to rob me of my sanity.

The bathroom was just simple bad luck. Kiddo flushed the toilet, everything went down, and then the bowl just wouldn't stop filling! Ended up overflowing and we caught it before too much damage was done. I had thought that we caught it before any damage was done, but no such luck. Late that same night (Saturday the 3rd), I spotted the unmistakable mark of water damage.

So, naturally, we called some folks, and now my basement looks like this for another day or two before they start ripping into the basement ceiling to fix whatever damage there was.

What will this cost? Who knows! But hey, at least this is something I can just get fixed with a bit of time and money. I could probably try to fix it myself, but holy crow do I not want to spend days looking up DIY videos for installing... sheet? rock? and speckling it and whatever else goes into this style of basement ceiling. No thanks, that's what professionals are for, and I'm more than happy to just wave vaguely at the problem and say "please fix".

As to the hockey side of things, it's our 5yo's first year, and she's loving it. Absolutely loving every second she's on the ice. Eldest is also loving his hockey as usual - though he decided to throw us a curveball this year and up and decide that he's right-handed for hockey now. He's been playing left for 3 years, but sure buddy, go ahead and switch, lol. Honestly, I suspected he was a Righty the last two years but he stubbornly refused to try, and given how fast he's taken to the switch... definitely is the correct way to go for him. I'm excited to see how their season goes this year.

It is going to be a lot of rink time for us. With the two of them, we're currently in the rink 4 days in a row... and I know that this is the slower ramp-up to the real flood of games and practices that comes early to mid December. It's gonna get wild round the ol' household before long... but for now it's manageable!

Anyhow, that's all I have time for today. Until next time, friends!
