Today, I’m taking you along on another countryside excursion; we’re visiting the rural areas and surroundings of Chiesina Uzzanese. I had been there before but hadn't visited the smaller hamlets—though I had seen a few, like Molinovo. Chiesina Uzzanese is part of the Val di Nievole and is a large municipality connecting various areas such as Pescia, Montecatini, and Altopascio; it is a busy area that sees a lot of through-traffic. It is surrounded by the Cerbaie hills and traversed by the Pescia stream, which runs through much of the region. The town and its hamlets are densely populated—this isn't your typical deserted rural area. In ancient times, the land was marshy and uninhabited, but around 1700, the area was reclaimed; the first settlements sprang up, followed by rapid expansion that led to a large population, especially during the 20th century. In the past, the local economy relied on fishing in the surrounding marshes and on agriculture, but today the area has been completely reclaimed.

Today, there are many residential areas featuring charming, simple detached houses—mostly painted in soft, light colors—making it seem like a lovely area for families; there are also old, disused factories alongside some modern ones that are still in operation. We then headed toward the countryside, which, like the surrounding region, is dotted with farmhouses and buildings set amidst the fields. While most of the fields are uncultivated, I noticed a difference here compared to other areas: there are far more trees in this countryside. They were likely planted by nursery growers from the nearby city of Pistoia, who are very active in the region. Furthermore, the countryside is inhabited; although there are fewer homes than in the town center, there are still plenty of houses scattered among the fields. Hoy en día, existen muchas zonas residenciales con casas unifamiliares sencillas y encantadoras —pintadas en su mayoría de tonos suaves y claros—, lo que convierte a la zona en un lugar ideal para las familias; también se pueden ver algunas fábricas antiguas en desuso junto a otras más modernas que siguen en funcionamiento.
