When I saw this prompt titled "Troubles associated with your set/class in school," my brain was so quick to recall the hilarious event that took place in my school involving my set that faithful day in the year 2007.
The set of my class were categories of people that I was imagining if they were born from one parent. lol. Just a few of us were behaving well and studying like students we are. Yeah, I have to proudly involve myself in the categories of good students because I really behaved myself right from primary school and through my uni days 😉.
However, this event took place during my secondary level when we were writing our WAEC & NECO examinations. You know the attitude of students when they are aware that malpractice is guaranteed for such an external examination? so naughty behaviors, unseriousness, a bunch of noise makers, lack of interest in learning, including engaging in practicals, and many more. Talk about a visit to the library; you won't find most of my classmates there. The only thing they were busy doing was saving money to pay for the malpractices, either through their transport fare or through their snack money.
For some students, their parents wouldn't give them a dime to pay for such an act, while for some, their parents were ready to spend money and see that their ward passed the exam either by hook or crook, lol.
Personally, I know I wanted to prepare for the exam and be ready without waiting for the general copy and paste they usually do on the board while students copy theory answers back to back. But when the problem became a general issue; everyone is a victim whether you follow or not.
On day one of the exam, the external invigilator cooperated, and students enjoyed their malpractices comfortably. The same thing applicable to days 2 & 3, but on day 4, there was a change in the invigilator. It was a very strict man who didn't want to compromise. He rejected the huge money students contributed for the malpractices and threatened to subtract marks for anyone caught cheating.
The whole of the examination hall was like a mortuary, so silent and without many people writing anything. In fact, the majority submitted an empty script with anger. But then, a good number of my class gathered the invigilator after the exam and beat him up until blood gushed out from his mouth. The man escaped death.
The news spread, and for the remaining papers, WAEC made it hot for us; at the end of the day, our results were cancelled. If not for my NECO result, I would have repeated one year to resist for WAEC, lol.
