From that first experience, we were hooked. It wasn’t long before we made it a point to find an escape room every time we set out on a road trip or weekend getaway. The rush of solving intricate puzzles under time pressure and the satisfaction of escaping with minutes—or sometimes seconds—to spare became something we all looked forward to. It also seemed to deepen our appreciation for strategy-based board games, as we found ourselves drawn to the same kind of logic and problem-solving challenges at home.
Over the years, we’ve tackled a wide variety of escape room themes, ranging from lighthearted, cartoon-inspired adventures to eerie, horror-driven scenarios that kept us on edge. Some rooms have been incredibly well-designed, while others fell a little short, but regardless of the experience, we’ve always walked away with great memories. We’ve now expanded our escape room outings to include friends and extended family, which has made the experience even more enjoyable. The more people we have, the more perspectives and skills we bring to the puzzles, making some of the tougher rooms a bit more manageable.
Lately, we’ve noticed the rise of franchises like Escapology, which offer a seemingly endless selection of rooms across various locations. While this means we’ll likely never run out of options, we’ve also seen the cost of escape rooms increase over time. As much as we love them, the rising prices might slow down our ability to check off new rooms as frequently as we’d like. Still, our passion for escape rooms remains strong, and we’ll continue seeking out new challenges wherever our travels take us.
No matter where we go next, one thing is certain: if there’s an escape room nearby, we’ll be there, ready to put our teamwork and puzzle-solving skills to the test!
