The latest launch to attempt bringing a game from console to mobile has been Call of Duty with their new mobile game available on Android and iOS. The franchise has attempted to make some games in the past but none have really got off the ground as they have mostly been aligned with single player campaigns which are far from the experience that has made Call of Duty so popular; a multiplayer experience. However, the latest attempt puts multiplayer front and center and brings some nostalgia to the mix as well as popular maps and weapons are available to use in game.
My first experience was to load the infamous Nuketown map and run around with a number of guns straight from the console games. The controls were quite good and considering it was a multiplayer match, the gameplay and graphics worked very well on my device. The developers added interesting settings to enable auto aiming or not which helps in how we battle opponents. While load times are a bit extensive, it was fun to be able to play a quick match while waiting on line for food while being mobile.
They also took an extra step and included the ever popular Battle Royale mode as well as it continues to be the gameplay that most online players are gravitating to across all platforms. While I have not bee a big fan of the genre, I can see how it can fun to have as an option when playing mobile as games can be as quick as you make them to be based on how aggressive you are. The developers have made this game free although premium options are available to play and get access to additional items in game. Gaming is definitely headed in a great direction for mobility!
