As an architect, before building come to reality, I spend time imagining how it will be. But most times, when I am in front of my TV watching a football match, I sometimes picture a completely different life for myself. That type of life where the space that I work is a football pitch and my craft in architecture is replaced by goals, passes, tackles, and medals.
If at at I could venture into another profession, it would be a professional footballer. Right from a teenage age, I have always loved sports especially football, and I have seen it to be beyond scoring goals. Anytime I play football, I always enjoy those moments especially when these one well timed pas can change the whole during of the match, how teammates must work and support eachother, and hoe the players can make millions of people around the world come together to witness a beautiful brilliant moment.
Picture that brilliant moment of walking out of the tunnel, hearing how the crowds are chanting, adjust my short, and knowing that the next ninety minutes is going to change a lot. I will love to represent my country and my favourite club, play against different countries and clubs, test my ability against them.
Of course, there will come the recognition and the money, but i would value my career better and cease the opportunity to always make fans happy through something I also love.
I also understand that football is not all applause. There will be moments of lose, injuries, days that training will feel difficult, moments when my best efforts will not be enough. Still, I will not let go of those challenges because I admire the discipline that will always need me to keep improving myself.
Perhaps, my experience in architecture would help me to read the space on a pitch, but with football, there will be different knowledge on what teamwork means. Instead of imagining snd coming up with space where people can occupy, I would be part of the moment that brings them together. That is a life I would gladly love and experience.
