Lenny is a television actor who works on a very unique prime-time TV show. Because he has a good singing voice, he was given a very interesting role: singing. He sings songs written by aspiring songwriters. These songwriters see the show as an opportunity to get their work some exposure and appear in the credits. If a song is really good, they might be signed by record labels that have a contract with the television network sponsoring Lenny's show.
All he has to do on the show is choose the best songs and bring them to life with the show's team. Everyone wins here: the songwriters gain recognition and a possible contract, and Lenny, the show's actor and singer, gets prime-time exposure.
But although the show gives everyone visibility, it's actually quite artificial. The audience members who appear at the concerts are actually actors who are paid to sit there and applaud. And although Lenny sings the songs, they are often recorded in controlled environments, and then he lip-syncs for the cameras. Even the concert landscapes and stages are created using a green screen.

The public doesn't really care about those television tricks; all they want is to be entertained and enjoy the music. In fact, even Lenny himself thought that way—he's an actor, after all, and prepared for situations like that. None of this had ever affected him as a musician. But a recent event made him change his mind, and he rethought everything he was doing. He ran into a young man on the street, a fan of his. The young man told him he loved his music and that it motivated him to endure bullying at school.
When he said that to Lenny, it really affected him because the music wasn't his; he only provided the vocals. So he felt like he was deceiving the young man in a way. Although the show clarified that many parts were dramatized, it seems the young man didn't know that. After that encounter, he began to see things differently.
He needed a change, and he couldn't make it while he was still on the show. Furthermore, she had been on the show for years and had never performed for a real audience. Despite having sung many times, she had never written a song. Because of all this, she decided she had to put acting aside and make music the central focus of her life.

Shortly after that, he left the show and focused on his new life as a singer. It was a big change going from television to real music. But it didn't bother him at all. Because having real fans in front of you, an audience that loves you and what you do, is priceless. That's worth more than singing other people's songs. He could now take all the credit. And to think that this whole change was sparked by a fan's comment; that's why there's nothing better than connecting with your fans. In fact, Lenny will base his new music from now on on ideas from his fans, since he does everything for them.
