Hi everyone! This is my first post here, so allow me to introduce myself. I am a mom to two amazing littles. A 2.5 year old boy (affectionally referred to as Bug) and a 3 month old little girl (We will call her Bean). I have a wonderful husband and am currently a SAHM for the remainder of my maternity leave which is 1 year, as I live in Canada. After that time is up I intend to return to work. Though who knows what that will look like by then, with all the new protocols in place.

My husband has been posting various things here for a little over a year and has finally convinced me to give it a try, so here I am. I’m not sure what type of content I will provide as I am just feeling this out, so I thought for my first post I’d let you in on some of what our lives have looked like since lockdown.

My husband and I both found ourselves working from home in our kitchen in our tiny apartment in the spring of last year when everything changed. There have been many blessings and some big adjustments we’ve had to make due to that as well. Not long after we were given our work from home orders we found out we were expecting baby number 2, which made our pandemic experience a little more interesting!

We currently find ourselves in a small 2 bedroom apartment with a toddler and a newborn, one parent working in the kitchen and the other ( Me!) trying to figure out how to run a growing household in a shrinking world. The lockdowns and restrictions have left us without daycare most of the time for our toddler and with a whole lot less help with baby than we had the last time. Date nights aren’t even an option lately, after all, even if we could find a babysitter, where would we go? So family nights it is instead.

It’s hard to believe how much our world has changed in the last year. We see so very little of our family and friends if it’s not on Zoom that our son seems to think his aunts and uncles live in the computer! Even playgrounds are a novel attraction for our little Bug. It is a whole new experience trying to get enough exercise and energy out of a toddler when there is nowhere to go but in circles around the living room!

I have definitely found it more difficult with Bean in tow, and we have recently started on the potty training adventure with Bug as well. I think we are slowly finding our groove though. This last month we have settled into some routines which seem to make the days go smoother, and as the weather warms up it will be easier to head outdoors. We do love taking long walks with our littles, chasing bubbles and running on the trails and in the parks near our home. We are hoping we will be able to move into something larger soon, preferably someplace with a yard so that it’s a little easier for our kidlets to get the wiggles out. For now, we are coming up with creative ways to make due with the space we do have, even if it feels a little claustrophobic at times.

Well, that’s us, me and my hubby, and our two sweet littles, living as big as we can in a world that seems to be constantly shrinking. I’m looking forward to this new adventure as well, maybe it will make the world feel a little less tiny for a little while.

Until next time, be safe and be kind!
