Me habló.
@joalheal,
@yenmendt y

Tales of the forest
I took the photograph in my hands. I looked at its edges, at the clouds that threatened to completely cover the sky, and I thought that perhaps they were winged creatures that fed on the sun, that drank the sunlight, as if they wanted to keep it inside their bodies, eternally. That glow was so bright, so enigmatic...
However, the afternoon was already beginning to decline. I laid my eyes on the bush in the distance, on the dome of the cursed church, where I had had that - shall we say - revealing encounter. I was afraid to even look at her, and in my heart, the beats echoed more and more.
I felt my skin bristle, little by little, and that clamour began to slowly descend to the centre of my stomach.
I could not utter words, but some melody came to my lips that spoke of laughter, dreams, and caresses. It was like a litany of someone unnamable in the firmament.
I stood still, looking at the photo and then I saw it: there it was, in the tree, to the right of the landscape, that strange being that changed its shape, and this time it was a tiny blue sphere (look at the first picture).
Suddenly time stopped. I was no longer holding the piece of cardboard in my hands, I was inside it.
That afternoon, which was dying, showed more vivid colours. Time had stopped one step, to go back 10, and so, somewhat unsettled, I lay down on the grass.
This was not my first time. Travelling to the past and the future is almost my speciality. Still, landing in either place is always forced and so I had to catch my breath. I wondered if I could change anything about what I'd already experienced, so I keep coming back to the photo, despite the trembling in my body at the thought of jumping into another dimension.
What if something goes wrong when I try to change things according to my convenience? What if I fail again? I always ask myself the same questions.
The strange, blue creature could then be anywhere, even inside me.
To start the adventure, I had to find the tree first. It was a mighty specimen, with huge roots that protruded like arms. I had gone there to have breakfast with the girl who inspires sugary poems, before it happened...what happened.
I stood up and walked about 100 steps in the direction of the forest.
At the first tree, the clues already started to appear. They change with every trip.
On the day of the picnic, for example, I had forgotten to bring my camera, why would I have it in front of me now? Perhaps it was something pending at the level of desires, as I remembered that with the rush and the preparation of the refreshments, I had completely forgotten it and that forest is very exquisite to take a few pictures. Birds of all kinds nest there, squirrels scurrying from branch to branch, butterflies, flowers... strange fruits that when opened seem to break the bones. Sometimes that sound can be unsettling.
I grabbed my camera, but not before checking my backpack to see what other things would be there that I would surely have to use when the time came. I only saw inside it a bag with two items of clothing, and another little bag made of sequins with some things used for makeup. I smiled. This trip looked like it would take a ridiculous turn, as I detest makeup.
Ahead was the dandelion, which is a promise of fidelity and foretells a beautiful future. Still, what I found among those little flowers caught my attention even more.
It was none other than Robert Mapplethorpe, one of the most celebrated and controversial figures in the contemporary art world.
He spoke to me.
I have a habit of conversing with books. I flip them open and on the page that falls are the answers to my life. At that moment I knew what awaited me and what I had to face.
That church was cursed, but I could not see it yet. I had to go on my way and the blue creature would take care of taking me back on my steps. I was sure because it had always been so. My desire (just so you know) was to free my muse from the seductive sway of a vampire. But perhaps even I could become one on this temporary journey.
Now I must tell you roughly what happened on the day of the picnic, April 3, so that you will understand why I was immersed in this journey.
This was the promised land. We had talked for many hours in the kitchen of my house the day before and laughed a lot, as we usually do every time we get together. At some point, I came up with the brilliant idea that we could go to breakfast in the forest.
It's called Monte Barreto," I told her, "and it's also very close to the sea, in a residential and hotel area. But there are trees there, lots of them, and people go there to enjoy themselves in groups, either with family or friends. You can do many things, drink, play whatever you can think of playing, ride a horse, or just drop into a shade to read, to listen to the beat of life that echoes throughout the park... and yes, it's a great park."
Then, bright and early in the morning she showed up in her car. She said the alarm sounded with cockcrowing and birdsong and that this picnic adventure had her very motivated. We brought a few things... simple snacks, toast with aioli, nuts, mushrooms and a tapper full of pickled peppers. On top of that, I made pineapple juice with ginger. I didn't have much else at home... oh, yes, some mango slices and also some bananas, which had a beautiful colour and since I harvest them here in my backyard, you know, no chemicals. On top of all that I prepared a basket and put two crystal glasses inside, along with a little white tablecloth, embroidered, with autumn leaves motifs. She likes autumn, or I don't know. I think spring. Oh, now I'm not sure. Anyway, she fell in love with these little flowers as soon as she saw them.
It's called coralillo -I went there to explain as if my knowledge of botany was extensive-, it's a climbing plant, I pointed and stopped talking because I realized that I was like a parrot and she kept thinking with a mischievous smile. I guess she already knew it, but she pretended she had never seen it before in her life.
I have to say that my muse is very elegant and knows how to speak without so much beating around the bush, there is no word too many or too few.... (well I don't know, maybe yes, sometimes she lacks, but I'm not going to complain).
I showed her the strange fruits that when opened make a sound like broken bones.
I have seen that artisans use those shells for the hardness for their creations... don't even think of touching them inside, they have thousands of little needles, I warned her.
Now we had to find a place to sit down and the forest was so fresh, so jovial.
However, we chose the tree in the photo below, as it looked strong and was the best shade available.
We spent a few hours there, talking about the human and the divine. We were alone, I don't know why on earth that day no one decided to go to the park to have fun. I liked the solitude at first, but when everything went dark and the blue spheres appeared, we were terrified. I remember voices coming out of the tree trunks, saying incomprehensible things, I think they were calling us.
I soon understood that they wanted her. I confronted those ghouls with the tablecloth, rustling back and forth, and suddenly I saw my girl fade away. It became transparent and indigo until it ended up joining the other sparkles and flew in the direction of the church.
I ran there.
What happened next is too confusing and that is why I come back to this place through the photo. I want to understand why I saw her dressed in white, pale and also very placid, accompanied by a pale gentleman also, with blue eyes and very.... very bright.
I think to this day that she is a vampire because she frightened me as if she were a cat. With that sound that cats make when they open their little mouths and show their fangs... as much as I tried to get closer, it was as if I was trying to walk against a huge wind and the floor looked like it was soapy. I slipped and fell again and again. I took a lot of hits. I got exhausted and left that place, very sad and confused.
So let's go back to that last trip I made back in time to get to that church and save my muse.
After the book, I found this.
It could well be the casserole used in a coven. And I don't say coven for fun, I saw a witch fly. Remember that I had my camera with me for a reason.
Then I was petrified. Let's see:
I was certain about the vampire because I had seen him, but the book was confirming it. And it turns out that he also had to deal with witches, or would they be helpful in rescuing my muse? My mind was getting more and more in turmoil. I didn't know what to do with so many parts. The puzzle was getting complicated.
To return to the present I had to look at the photo again and concentrate on the tiny blue creature perched in the tree. But I didn't dare abandon the mission. Especially when I had already travelled to the future, and in a Discord program entitled ECENCYales Days, @susurrodmistery,
@joalheal,
@yenmendt and
@germanandradeg made me sign a contract with the commitment that I must write a vampire poem for next week. How could I manage it without her? 😫
I was in the middle of those musings when I happened to look down and at my feet, I found three sleeping fairies.
Or were there four of them?
The truth is that with their shy little voices, they calmed me down a bit and encouraged me to continue...
After a while, everything was conspiring in my favour. I found some vampire hunters who had just rescued a muse.
We joined forces. They accompanied me with their powerful weapons into the church and I was able to rescue mine. But not before receiving a beating from that pale creature that moved like a demon, climbing the walls, throwing all kinds of objects at us, I don't even know, I think lecterns, goblets, statuettes and crucifixes.
I'm still in pain... 😏
I hope you enjoyed this walk (or Wednesday adventure - #wednesdaywalk), and that @tattoodjay understands that between reality and fiction, there is a very thin line.
But don't worry, I'll tell you 😆 really, why in Monte Barreto witches fly, muses wear blue dresses, and from friendship arise things as crazy as wonderful... of course, this will be for another post.
