For the first time in a long time, I believe I will be able to achieve the goals and objectives I have set for myself this new year, and I'll tell you why.
As you may already know, for us Venezuelans, the year began with a big surprise, one that, although it had been announced and even promised many times, we did not believe possible, even though we wanted it with all our hearts: the removal of the president.
And although many of you will surely wonder what one thing has to do with the other, don't despair, I'll explain. For about three years, most Venezuelan workers, myself included, have not received a pay raise, so our only goal was to survive on less than $5 a month. Even if we had goals and aspirations, inflation, despair, sadness, and hopelessness destroyed any plans and dreams we might have had each year. But this year, I have hope that it will be different.
So, for 2026, even though I know that time cannot be recovered, I want to start traveling again. I want to use my free time to see new places, meet new people, and, if possible, have rewarding and new experiences. I want to travel not only within my country, as there are places I haven't seen yet and would like to visit, but also abroad. That international trip could be in July or August. Spending 30 days outside my country would be one of my big projects for this new year.
I also want to join a gym to start a training plan. I'm 52 years old now, and although I'm in good health, gravity has already started to take its toll on my body. Hahaha. I am a very active person, in that I do many things every day, but I find it difficult to exercise, to do daily exercises that tone my body and allow me not to lose so much muscle mass. Of course, it also involves eating well, eating a balanced diet, not just whatever is in the fridge, and also starting to take supplements and vitamins.
If I manage to do these two things in the new year, I will feel satisfied and be the happiest woman in the world. You are probably wondering why I couldn't achieve these two goals before, and the answer is simple and short: lack of money. But we are already hearing that there will be a new respite in the Venezuelan economy and that Venezuelan workers will finally be able to live without shortages, without needs, without the anxiety of whether they will be able to survive until the end of the month. The best part is that I am not the only one who has started making plans; I am sure that all Venezuelans are dreaming of a different 2026, full of accomplished goals. So welcome, 2026!
