Hello, everyone.
I welcome to my blog another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. I believe that everyone has goals that they plan to achieve for each year that they step into, habits they want to drop and some they want to pick up because they have seen how those they want to drop have affected them, and those that they want to pick up will impact their lives and push them towards achieving their goals and dreams. At the start of every year everyone's new slog is the new year, a new me, but trust me, not everyone goes with that. Before the year runs out, many people go back to those habits they dropped; some drop the new habits they picked up, and then they find themselves in the same spot they started the year or even worse.
It is very easy to scream 'New Year, New Me', but it is very difficult to build the new you like you imagined. Dropping old habits, picking up new ones, changing your circle and your routine, going from not putting in the work to trying to put in the work – it is a lot. If you really want to achieve your dreams and goals, you must be willing to put in the work. We all have dreams, goals and targets for the year, but not everyone is willing to put in the work required to achieve those goals they have pen down or have in mind.
The year 2026 for me has been quite a tough one; it is a year that came with one challenge after another. This year taught me that "there is no rest for me in this life; perhaps in the next I might be able to get some rest." Almost everything I planned to achieve this year and learn this year has not yet been completed due to one reason or another. I was working towards completing my UI/UX design programme when my laptop developed a screen problem. After a few weeks of running around to see that it was fixed, I was able to do so, and we were back on track.
A few weeks after the screen was fixed, the battery got bad, with no warning sign, just like that. I shut it down after a class, and then the next day I wanted to continue from where I left off, and the battery could not power the laptop again. As much as completing the course was a priority, I had other needs to settle, such as my house rent, and I could not squeeze out to have the battery fixed, and it has been on hold alongside other tech skills I was working on, such as video editing. The year 2026 has been full of ups and downs, but I believe everything happens for a reason and prepares one for what is coming.
Nothing really notable for the year; there are a few achievements, but I will not say they are really notable even though our little wins also count. One thing I look forward to achieving this year is going for my mandatory one-year service because it has been standing as a hindrance to many opportunities, and I hope and look forward to getting done with it so I can move to another phase of my life.
