I visited Kashine Hills for photography, expecting Mongols, but found peaceful peasants instead. After learning about local haiku and exploring the flower-filled villa, I played my flute at sunset.
My calm stroll was interrupted when a Mongol patrol ambushed me, forcing me to eliminate them and rescue a hostage.
I returned to Kashine Hills hoping to capture some photography. I felt uncertain about the area, as it seemed like a place that should have been guarded by Mongols.
I decided to check around the location to free the beautiful spot from any trouble if any existed. Upon arriving, however, I did not see a single Mongol. There were only a few local peasants scattered around.
A lady standing nearby wished to speak with me, so I walked over to hear what she had to say. She explained that she had watched a flock of birds circling in the sky and followed them until she discovered a breathtaking spot.
She sat down, stared at the view, and completely lost track of time. Jin mentioned that everyone needed inspiration in those difficult days and brought up the art of writing haiku.
After our conversation, I stepped inside the nearby house to check for any supplies left behind. I did not want to rush through the area, so I took my time exploring the interior.
Although I found no supplies inside, a few peasants sitting in the room greeted me warmly the moment they recognized Sakai. I left the men behind and walked back outside to explore the rest of the vibrant landscape.
The location gained most of its beauty from the colorful flowers blooming all around. A walk down that path felt like a dream for any traveler or living soul. Soon, I noticed a striking tree standing beside a fox shrine, so I made my way toward it.
I climbed up to the stone platform where the fox statue rested and waited for the sun to go down. As the sun began to dip toward the horizon, I played my flute to give the journey a calmer vibe.
The music added a peaceful atmosphere to the surroundings, and I always loved the sound of the instrument because Jin played it so well. I looked forward to unlocking more tunes in the future, as Jin only knew a single song at the time. The sun sank lower on the horizon while I continued to play.
While still playing the music, I began walking toward the sunset, leaving Kashine Hills and the villa behind me. It was a serene moment surrounded by incredible scenery, and I could not praise the beauty of the landscape enough.
Suddenly, a group of Mongols ambushed me, likely drawn to my location by the sound of the music.
I backed up slightly to gain my footing before charging directly at them.
I ran forward, jump-kicked the lead Mongol, and slit his throat before the rest of the group could react. Another Mongol wielding dual swords moved in to attack, but I quickly dispatched him instead.
I noticed two remaining enemies in the brush and defeated them both in short order. After the fight, I realized the Mongols had been holding a peasant hostage, so I freed him from his bonds.
He gave me a small token as a gesture of his gratitude.
The peaceful journey ultimately ended in violence because of the Mongol patrol, though rays of sunlight still lingered on the horizon. I walked up to a high vantage point to watch the final light of the sun before pausing my journey.
