After defeating the Mongol Warlord and finishing the Hammer and Forge mission, a cutscene showed Motun Khan interrogating Shimura. Returning to Komatsu Forge, I learned I needed to wait for Taka to forge a grapple hook before freeing Shimura, and I wrapped up a massive mission like this.
I had to defeat the Mongol Warlord while an archer was attacking me from afar, so I went for the archer first while the Warlord was heading toward the forge.
When I was taking care of more archers, I noticed the Mongol Warlord joined a fight against Yuri, so I went for him right away without giving him a chance to do much damage to Yuri.
While I was attacking the warlord, Yuri was also trying to attack him with some arrows to give me cover. At last, I finished taking care of the Mongol warlord as well.
Now it looked like I was done taking care of all the Mongols, and then Jin ended the suffering of a Mongol clinging to life. Finally, the fight was over, I hoped.
Then Taka came out to say he had never seen a samurai fight like that, and Jin mentioned it was nothing. Yuri then mentioned Jin was more than a samurai, calling him a vengeful spirit back from the grave to slaughter the Mongols.
Taka asked where they should hide now, but Jin mentioned they would not hide anymore. He asked Taka to fire up his forge and get back to making strong weapons, saying that was how they would fight back and save Shimura.
Taka accepted the quest and went back to the forge.
Then Jin stopped Yuna, asking about the vengeful spirits comment, and Yuna replied that the peasants liked it and it looked like to me that Jin liked it as well. With that, the mission Hammer and Forge came to an end.
The scene shifted to Castle Kaneda at night. The Mongol leader was talking with Shimura, asking about Jin's techniques, but Shimura was still against these Mongols.
Motun Khan still offered Shimura a chance to join him, mentioning Jin would change, and asked Shimura to convince his nephew.
I thought the next mission about releasing Shimura would take place right away, but instead, I was back at Komatsu Forge. Jin mentioned he could not free his uncle until Taka forged the tool he wanted.
I had to go for another mission to check on Yuna and Taka in the town of Komatsu Forge, where I might get rewarded with the grapple hook next. I decided not to go for it right away, though.
