These animals are close relatives of corals and jellyfish; and form symbiotic relationships with other organisms, among them what is popularly known as the clown fish, which is able to inhabit them because they have a layer of mucosa that makes it immune to the sting of the anemone, it also forms relationships with green algae, In exchange for providing the algae with a safe place to grow and receive sunlight, the anemone receives oxygen and sugar, which are products derived from photosynthesis.
