Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants make their own food using sunlight. It is one of the most important biological processes because it provides food and oxygen for living organisms.

How Photosynthesis Works

Plants absorb:

Sunlight through their leaves.

Carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the air through tiny openings called stomata.

Water (H₂O) from the soil through their roots.

Inside the leaves, a green pigment called chlorophyll captures sunlight. The plant then uses this energy to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose (sugar), which serves as food for the plant. During this process, oxygen (O₂) is released into the atmosphere.
