Some personal thoughts and photos./ Monomad Challenge [Eng/Esp]

Greetings, friends of the #blackandwhite community—how are you all doing? After months of intense heat, the days are finally cooler, which I’m very grateful for, because it makes walking feel lighter and helps the mind think more clearly. At least when it comes to street photography.

Saludos, amigos de la comunidad #blackandwhite, ¿qué tal están? Después de meses de intenso calor, ya los días son más frescos, algo que agradezco mucho, porque se camina más liviano y la mente piensa mejor. Al menos para hacer fotografía callejera.

The city has had to adapt to the changing times, something you can sense in people—sometimes subtly—but after spending so much time on the street taking photos, I’ve become able to notice it.

La ciudad se ha tenido que adaptar a los nuevos tiempos, algo que se percibe en la gente, a veces de forma sutil, pero después de pasar mucho tiempo en la calle haciendo fotos, soy capaz de darme cuenta.

I’m grateful to be a part of these social transformations and to have documented them.

Agradezco poder estar presente en estas transformaciones sociales y haberlas documentado.

Sometimes I feel sad when I compare things to how they were a year ago, but that’s part of life—part of the social evolution that, for better or worse, we’ve had to live through.

A veces me siento triste cuando lo comparo con lo que era hace un año, pero es parte de la vida, de la evolución social que, para bien o para mal, nos ha tocado vivir.

However, I’ve never stopped enjoying what I do: every corner, every block, every building bears witness to how the city and its people live.

No obstante, nunca he dejado de disfrutar de lo que hago: cada esquina, cada cuadra, cada edificación es testigo de cómo vive la ciudad y su gente.

That’s why it’s so exciting, and I feel a great sense of responsibility toward my work: to capture all these social changes through my lens. For now, we’ll keep working. Thank you so much for always being with me. Tomorrow I’ll be back with more photos of the streets of Havana and everyday life there.

Por eso es tan apasionante y me siento muy responsable con mi trabajo: capturar con mi lente todos estos cambios sociales. Por lo pronto, seguiremos trabajando. Mil gracias por acompañarme siempre. Mañana regreso con más fotos de la calle en La Habana y su cotidianidad.
