Learn how to make a tasty and delicious homemade Berry Crisp.

Ingredients
Filling

  • 6 – 8 cups of mixed berries: blackberries, raspberries, blueberries (approx. 600 to 750g)
  • 1/4 cup white granulated sugar (58 g)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose plain flour (32g)
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon (2 g)
  • Crisp
  • 1 cup rolled oats (90 g)
  • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar (116 g)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour plain (64g)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (100 g)
  • 1/4 tsp. of salt (1 g)
  • 1/2 cup softened room-temperature butter, NOT melted (113g)

Instructions

  1. First, preheat the oven to 350 F. (176 C). Next, take the dry ingredients for the filling (flour, sugar, cinnamon) and add those to a bowl and whisk to combine.
  2. Coat the berries with the dry mixture. You can toss the berries or use a spatula.
  3. Take the rest of the dry ingredients and add to a large bowl. Use a fork or whisk and blend those together. Then add the butter to the mixture and break it up into chunks. Blend the butter in with the dry mixture, pushing down with the fork, or you may use a pastry blender. Keep doing this until all the butter is incorporated and you are left with little chunks of butter, flour, sugar, salt, and oats.
  4. Now take a 10-inch round or a variety of other sizes of pans, and add the berry filling to it. Make sure to butter your pan first. Shake the pan so the berries level out.
  5. Add the crisp topping. Use a fork to even it out. Then bake it in a preheated oven at 350 F (176 C) for 50 to 60 minutes until the top gets golden brown and the berries bubble on the edges. Then let it cool for about 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
  6. Serve up a scoop of the berry crisp. You can put it on a plate or in a bowl and add ice cream or whipped cream, or whatever else you might like to try with it. Enjoy!
