Unlike my usual practice of painstakingly editing photos, I chose to share these two shots exactly as they were captured. You see, I have the edited versions of these shots too, but something about them felt so right in their raw, unprocessed form. I think we photographers tend to forget that sometimes the image captured by our camera is already beautiful and needs little to no alteration.
Istanbul’s sunsets are indeed something to behold, but there is nothing quite like seeing the Turkish metropolis from the water as the sun sets on the horizon. Watching the city skyline melt into the orange-red sky is utterly breathtaking and makes the beauty of Istanbul even more unforgettable. Trust me, if you ever have the opportunity to take a sunset boat tour in Istanbul, do not hesitate – the majesty of the scenery will take your breath away, leaving you nothing but awe and gratitude that you could witness it all firsthand.
The silhouette of Istanbul skyline against the backdrop of a sunset is arguably one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world, formed by the prominent domes and minarets of the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque in particular. Watching Istanbul from the Bosphorus or the Golden Horn at sunset is a unique experience that has enchanted countless tourists for centuries.
These shots are a reminder that sometimes the best images require no additional editing.
