Hi everyone! Less than a day ago, the @paywithsteem project was announced (at this website) with over a hundred useful products you could buy with STEEM or SBD!
The big issue facing cryptocurrencies is mass adoption, and having online stores accept STEEM and SBD solely as the only payment method is awesome. Though "the Amazon of Steem" already has many products ranging from consumer electronics to clothing, let's brainstorm a few more that would seal the deal!
If you have any product ideas that weren't mentioned within this post, feel free to leave them in the comments.
These days, it's hard to "physically" gift a person cryptocurrency without using a paper wallet or something highly technical.
However, with Steem, it's easy to create a type of "steem gift card" you can gift to people with or without Steem accounts!
The Gift Card can have a URL, say, https://paywithsteem.com/redeem and a scratchable code on it. When the user goes to the URL and enters in the code, they can redeem the Steem in one of two ways:
Giving a Steem Gift Card to a friend without a Steem account is also an incentive for them to create one. This will help bring more users to Steem and help the cryptocurrency become more useful to users.
If @paywithsteem is aspiring to become a popular Amazon-like store, an optional membership plan would help:
The membership plan could work similarly to Amazon's, providing free/faster shipping and extra perks/features.
It would also be very convenient if PayWithSteem sold digital content such as apps, movies, games, and more.
Many developers happily list their mobile apps on Amazon to be bought, however desktop apps on PayWithSteem would provide developers with more of an audience.
Additionally, if video/audio content such as movies, television shows, soundtracks, songs, albums, and more were available to buy on PayWithSteem, many users would be happy to buy in.
One of the most popular categories of items people buy on Amazon is the office/home/school supplies category.
Everyone needs some amount of these, from pencils to markers to @aggroed's staples, and adding this to PayWithSteem would give a lot of people something to buy.
We all eat food and love (some types of) food, so adding food to PayWithSteem would be a smart move to compete with companies like Amazon Groceries/Food, Munchery, DoorDash, BlueApron, and more.
The food can range from long-lasting snacks like chip bags to full meal kits for users to cook at home.
Hardware wallets for cryptocurrency are very popular right now, with companies like Ledger, Satoshi Labs (Trezor), and KeepKey constantly dishing out newer models.
These "cold storage" wallets are known for being the most secure way to store cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Litecoin, and more.
If PayWithSteem added popular hardware wallets, it would attract a lot of other cryptocurrency investors (from BTC, LTC, ETH, and more) to Steem, as many of these are hard to acquire.
If you have any ideas for products and services that would make Steem-based shops even better, feel free to leave them in the comments!
