The sign of harvest is one of the most pleasant sight any farmer wants to see especially when it is going to be a bountiful one.
Growing pepper and vegetables has been one of the simplest excercises I can ever think of compared to growing the other farm crop.
In just about about week that that I have shown us this green long pepper, we have then getting ripe already.
Nature is such a beautiful thing, I didn't take any much time for these pepper to start getting ripe. Once you plant this particular specie of pepper and take care of it properly, it is not difficult to real the fruit of the harvest. The long pepper has been the first to produce any seeds here. It started flowering earlier even though it was planted together with the other specie. Aside that seed production is fast and now we are approaching harvest as the fruits are begining to get ripe. The only challenge we face with growing pepper is that of weeding of the grasses.
Since the peppers are planted in a fertile ground, they are able to grow fast and produce well, but while they grow alot of grasses grow alongside these plants and we have to consistently engage in hand weeding.
Now it is not all types of crops that we normally use herbicides for the weeding. If it were to be grains like corn and rice, we may be able to use herbicides on them since those crops are often processed before eating but for peppers and vegetables hand weeding is preferable and the very same way crops grow and produce good harvest due to the quality of soil, grasses also grow abundantly making us face the challenges of weed control among this crop.
The pepper has been planted in a bed format not the regular format of construction of ridges like that of fluted pumpkins
Those are samples of fluted pumpkins beds while the next ones are for the pepper planted in a different arrangements of bed format
It is easier to weed the grasses of the ones in ridges format than for those in this bed format but nevertheless if you desire to grow anything you have to be willing to do all the labour involved before enjoying the harvest and fruit of that labour.
