Hello Hive
Blessed morning my beloved community, it's another bright and beautiful day and I am up refreshed, energized and thankful. It is often a privilege whenever we are able to work continuously without getting sick or witnessing a drawback in our health. Only a healthy human being can think right and pursue their careers in life hence I am always always grateful when my body is crisis free and I can go about my daily task.
I'm quite sure that no one will be happy if they hear that I am sick, unable to walk, work or feed myself, may that never be our portion. While working about my hard farm labours I often make it a point of duty to get adequate rest so that my body can stay refreshed and healthy at all times.
Yesterday I rested at home and didn't go to farm, some early morning hindered our movements for good. You know such like of rain that makes worked go to work with umbrella. It was good for me since I needed the rest and the rain was a good excuse to retire and stay home for the day.
Having stayed at home all day and for the workaholic that I am, my day wouldn't be fulfilled until I engage in one or two task, what to do is not often far away 🤣, I have the garden to take care of or some sewing to do.
I chose to work in the garden instead. Low and behold after 12solid days my onions surprised me with their germinated presence. I was worried since I haven't growing onions before and have no idea about their growth cycle. Upon checking the internet I was told that it may take at least 7-12days.
While I have this one that has properly germinated, and grow to about 3" after 12days of plantings others are still struggling to sprout
And others remained in the ground with no sign of germinating. In order to be sure if they will still germinate I dug out one of the onions, since they can as well get rotten and while I expect them to germinate, that will eventually not happen
Upon digging this out I realized that the onions were still viable. What was happening is this, upon planting onions they will first of all create new roots into the ground and after that is established that is when they will sprout and we will see the physical vegetation emerge from the ground.
It's a good thing that these aren't damaged yet and I returned it safely into the ground, this may be the case with all the other onions that are yet to germinate. In case you will be planting onions in the future and experience this kind of germination pattern.
My tomatoes are already fruiting well. Until I am able to back date my blogs that is when I can equally remember when I had planted these. Soon it will be harvest 🍅
These won't be plenty of course but I will have a few to pluck occasionally.
The crazy thing here is that all the tomato plants have coiled up around each other, overgrown and tall. Now I know why some people raise place small woods to support the tomatoes. I need to do that here too. I just did the little I can to separate them and allow the wall here to bear some.
It is really a chaotic situation for the tomatoes as they needed more space to spread out which I am short of here.
This was what I had spent my evening doing and was pleased to see all this progress with my gardening, then I was back to hive to continue with the moderation role in our #needlework community.
