Looking at all the categories of crops in our farms I think I prefer groundnut and beans to either rice, yam, potatoes, corn or cassava. Those are the two major proteins that are easy to grow and do not have longer life cycle. Mostly within 4-5 months they are ripe and ready for harvest.
Beans does not require much amount of rainfall like groundnuts and we mostly plant this from the month of August. This has been planted in the 3rd week of August.
I can barely keep up with all the work of planting and bringing the individual blogs on these crops separately.
With this significant amount of growth beans takes only about 6weeks before it begins flowering.
The process of planting beans requires that we first clear the farms
Plant the seeds with a calculated amount of seeds per hole and regular spacing because beans is a cover crop and you will watch how these will begin to flow and cover all the spaces here.
Insects have started boring holes into the beans already and at this stage the beans is ready for fumigation.
Next is regular fumigation against insecticide and pest that feeds on the leaves to reduce growth.
As we approach each of these stages you will be seeing the quantity of chemical fumigants one is to mix water and process in which we do this.
Planting beans is one of the easiest work I find doing in the farm compared to transplanting rice in the swamp.
Transplanting rice is so much hard work while harvesting rice is easy
But planting beans is easy while harvesting it is difficult.
The two makes a reverse of each other in terms of their farming activities.
You can follow me as we go about all these activities.
