It's needlework o clock and before the day runs out I want to steal some minutes to share with hive what I was up for the rest of my Sunday evening. I made this beautiful A-line dress for an expectant mother. Guess what?
Alot of women I have seen love to sew this kind of wears whenever they are newly pregnant as they do not desire that neighbors should see their baby bum soon as they get pregnant.
These kind of wear can conceal a 6months old pregnancy and by the time you will be suspecting that a woman is pregnant it might be almost close to her expectant date of delivery.
Whenever any of my sisters or certain women in the community here ask me to sew a simple A-line wear for them I know that this is the number one reason why. 馃馃馃
A line wears are the simplest of all outfits to make but when you encounter a fabric that the design is not uniform or it has certain kind of salvage m, then it takes a whole lot of thinking to make something attractive..
Such was the case with this fabric. The flower design on it wasn't uniform or good strategic places I had to creatively find how to how cut this fabric so that the pattern will appear appealing in the end.
Centralizing your flowers design is one method while for the others you have to keep thinking about what placement of the fabric design will look more appealing
After much thought on this I was able to cut the front and back block of the fabric here.
Followed by the sleeves
For the sewing, I was able to turn the necklines with bias strips since I have cut some wide necklines I am hoping that she can be able to wear it without any hinderance.
Next I sewed the sleeves hemming and attached them to the dress.
The finals steps were the hemming of the base of the dress before the joining of the side seams and the very long belt I had cut and sewn for more fitting for the dress.
One can sew am A line dress within just 2hours both the cutting and sewing and this is if you have an experience and have been sewing for long.
As an apprentice it took me almost 24-48hrs then to sew some simple wears as this but now I can neatly make these dresses within just 2hours.
