Having started a garden here I have wanted to plant different varieties of vegetable of which you can see that I was able to harvest some spinach on the first of this year.
The Jute mallow are still not ready for harvest even though they were planted together with the vegetables, it means that they take longer periods to produce because they have been planted since about 5week ago.
The spinach uses from 3weeks to a month to reach full maturity and continue to grow after that. I am studying and will be taking note of how long it took for the Jute mallow to get ready.
In another update the purchased Fluted pumpkins commonly known as Ugu which I had planted didn't survive, this might be based on several factors which I am trying to find out. Earlier I have found some lizards feeding on the tender leaves of the Fluted pumpkin seedling.
Maybe I could have created a net mesh to cover the top from lizard
In another view, it is often hard for seedlings to survive during the dry seasons where there are no natural downpour from rain and we use artificial water. Maybe some minerals from the water or something else. It can as well be the soil in which I have planted this in the sack. There just a lot of things I will watch out for next time.
My late ma and I have never had issues growing pumpkins and maybe because I am trying out a new method here. Growing the seedlings first in sack and all of that.
The Fluted pumpkin started drying up from the tip and gradually proceeds to the roots.
Nevertheless I am waiting for the maturing of the jute mallow so that I can make some soups with that as well comparing them with the ones often bought from the market.
