Hi, friends! Today I want to share something new with you: I wanted to bring the Forest Healer to life with a Minecraft skin.
I thought it was awesome to give this character some movement with this skin—and that it can also be used in Minecraft.
There are many apps, websites, and programs you can use to create this kind of skin directly on a base model; I downloaded a few apps and started testing them out, but honestly, I found the process very slow, since I didn’t have the skill or patience to do it that way. I did some research and discovered that I could do it directly in my drawing app, Ibis Paint—which is what I usually use for my pixel art—and I thought that was great because it would be much more convenient for me.
However, it wasn’t as simple as I’d hoped, since I needed a template, which at first wasn’t easy to find or use.
With all the information I’d gathered and after so many failed attempts, I managed to create my own template; I divided it by color—one color for each part of the body—which helped me a lot in figuring things out.

Me pareció completamente fabuloso darle movimiento a este personaje a través de esta skin y que además se pueda usar en Minecraft.
Hay muchas aplicaciones, páginas y programas que se pueden usar para hacer este tipo de skins directamente sobre una base, descargué algunas apps y me puse a probar, pero la verdad el proceso me pareció muy lento, ya que no tenía la sufiente habilidad y paciencia para hacerlo de ese modo, me puse a investigar y descubrí que podia hacerlo directamente desde mi app de dibujo, ibis paint, que es con la que usualmente hago mis trabajos en pixeles, cosa que me pareció genial, porque sería muchísimo más cómodo para mí.
Sin embargo no fué tan sencillo como esperaba, ya que necesitaba una plantilla, la cual no fue fácil de conseguir ni fácil de usar al principio.
Con toda la información recopilada y después de tantos intentos fallidos logré armar mi propia plantilla, la dividí por colores, un color para cada parte del cuerpo, esto me ayudó muchísimo a guiarme.
Once I had my template ready, I began the creative process. For this, I had to use a 128x128-pixel canvas; I could have used a smaller one, like 64x64, but with 128 pixels I’d have more space to add a lot more details.
My main idea was to start with the front of the character, then work on the back, and finally the sides.
I started with the face; it wasn’t much different from standard pixel art. I applied a base color, then I defined the facial features using shadows and highlights, drawing on the original character’s color palette. I painted their eyes green, used 2 pixels to simulate the nose, and 4 to create a smile on their mouth. In that same face block, I painted part of the hair falling over their face. Since the space was very small, I hesitated to draw the wreath of branches the character wears, but when I tried it, I really liked the result.
Una vez que ya tenía mi plantilla lista, comencé el proceso creativo, para esto tuve que usar un lienzo de 128x128 pixeles, pude haber usado uno más pequeño, de 64x64, pero con 128 pixeles tendría más espacio para agregar muchos más detalles.
Mi idea principal fué empezar con la parte frontal del personaje, para luego trabajar la parte de atrás y de último los lados.
Empecé a trabajar con el rostro, no fué muy distinto a un pixelart común, usé una base de color, luego fui definiendo los rasgos de la cara por medio de sombras y luces, tomando de referencia la paleta de colores del personaje original, pinté sus ojos de color verde, usé 2 pixeles para simular la nariz y 4 para hacer una sonrisa en su boca, en ese mismo recuadro del rostro pinté parte del cabello que cae sobre su cara. Cómo el espacio era muy pequeño, dude en hacer la corona de ramas que lleva el personaje, sin embargo al intentarlo me gustó mucho el resultado.
Continuing with the front, I moved on to the chest. There, I was able to make him a shirt in dark tones, added the necklace, and managed to print a clover on the shirt. Over this shirt went a jacket, and the long part of his hair fell over it.
Siguiendo con la parte frontal, prosegui con el pecho, allí pude hacerle una camisa con tonos oscuros, le agregué el collar y me las ingenié para estampar un trébol en la camisa. Sobre esta camisa iba una chaqueta y a su vez sobre esta sobrecaia la parte larga del cabello.
I continued with the arms, making long sleeves in white and gray, adding some green stripes, and leaving a small space at the ends for the hands.
Then I moved on to the legs, making green shorts to match the hair and some brown boots.
Continué con los brazos, hice unas mangas largas con blanco y gris y le agregué unas bandas verdes y en las puntas dejé un pequeño espacio para las manos.
Luego seguí con las piernas, le hice un short verde, para que combinara con el cabello y unas botas marronas.
With that, I already had the front and practically everything else, because I cloned those same layers to save time and used them for the back and sides, so that everything would look very symmetrical—except for the head, which I had to paint separately on each side—and on the back, I printed a very large Holozing logo.
Con esto ya tenía la parte frontal y prácticamente todo el resto, porque clone esas mismas capas para ahorrar tiempo y las usé para la parte trasera y los laterales, de modo que luciera todo muy simetrico, a excepción de la cabeza que tuve que pintar a parte cada lado y en la espalda le estampé el logo muy grande de Holozing.
