This time, I decided to try creating a bit of surrealist art, using a style quite different from what I’ve shared with you before.
It’s an art style that combines cross-hatching and scribbles. I wasn't aiming for the classic, perfectly executed cross-hatching with neatly aligned and well-defined lines; my main goal was to make chaotic lines that give the drawing a messy feel. To be honest, that was exactly what I wanted to achieve!
As for the drawing itself, I made a symmetrical eye with tear ducts on both sides, and instead of eyelashes, I drew a sort of legs sticking out along the edges.
I decided to name this illustration Arachnid Gaze.

No busqué hacer el clásico estilo de lineas cruzadas hechoas perfectamente, con lineas bien colocadas, alineadas y definidas, mi idea principal fue hacer líneas bastantes caóticas que den un aspecto desordenado al dibujo y para ser honesta, ¡era esto lo que quería lograr!
Sobre el dibujo en si, hice un ojo, simétrico, con lagrimales en ambos lados y en lugar de pestañas le dibujé una especie de patas sobresaliendo de estos por los bordes.
Por lo que he decido llamar a esta obra: mirada arácnida.
I started the creative process with a sketch that turned out quite messy. In it, I managed to capture the entire structure of the eye using very loose, disorganized lines. I used a hard brush with a very small thickness to simulate an ink drawing. I didn't work on separate layers—everything was done hastily on the same canvas. That was a mistake, because I knew very well that later on I’d have to clean up the sketch and reorganize some parts, which was going to frustrate me since patience really isn't my strong suit! 😅
El proceso creativo lo inicie haciendo un boceto, este quedó bastante sucio, en el pude plasmar toda la estructura del ojo con líneas muy sueltas y desordenadas, usé un pincel duro, de un grosor muy pequeño, de modo que simulara un dibujo hecho a tinta, no trabajé sobre ninguna capa, todo fue hecho a la ligera en el mismo lienzo, lo cual fue un error, porque sabía claramente que más adelante tendría que limpiar el boceto y reorganizar algunas partes y me iba a enojar haciendolo, porque sinceramente la paciencia no es mi fuerte. 😅
However, that didn't stop me. Once the structure was ready, I began shading. The fun part about these shadows is that they are built with lines: first, I applied a base layer of simple lines, and over those, I added lines crossed over each other to create a hatching effect. To build up darker areas, I added even more lines at different angles—completely random strokes that gave the drawing the depth I was looking for.
The highlights, on the other hand, were a different story—I left those areas blank, or simply added a single, very light layer of lines.
Pero no me detuve y una vez que tenía lista la estructura, comencé a sombrear, lo divertido de estas sombras es que están hechas con lineas, así que primero añadi una capa de lineas simples y sobre estas, otras lineas cruzadas entre si, creando un tramado de lineas. Y a la hora de dar más oscuridad añadía más lineas, esta vez en diferentes angulos, o sea, lineas completamente aleatorias, las cuales le dan la profundidad deseada al dibujo.
En cambio con las luces fue diferente, ya que esas zonas las dejé en blanco, o simplemente le añadi una sola capa muy suave de lineas.
