Hey Everyone,
Wanted to post a follow-up to my first ever post, where I discussed being shut down by my coworkers when trying to tell them all about our amazing world of cryptocurrency. I did not give up on teaching them, and as of today the responses I have gotten from them have gone from "who cares" just days ago to, "interesting, so how do I actually buy bitcoin."
So how did I get them to this point? Well, first of all, I am persistent and obsessive (some may say to a fault, but it works for me). Outside of talking about my wedding this weekend, everything else I discussed with them has been about Steem, Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc. It may have been my total badgering of them to try and understand cryptocurrency that finally got through to them; but I really think I came up with one of the simplest explanations for why Crypto has value that someone with no tech knowledge can understand.
I tried to break cryptocurrency down to the simplest form I could come up with, thinking of it as just moving something from one place to the next, similar to a car. A car has value because it gets us from one place to the next and makes our lives easier.
Cryptocurrency is the same, only so much more powerful because everyone can simultaneously know where things are being moved to and from, and there isn't one governing body controlling (messing up) things, and it's on the internet so that is awesome! The collective group runs everything, thus increasing the likelihood that actions taken will be done so to help the group as a whole. This finally made it click for them, the value of cryptocurrency isn't anything tangible, it is in the ability to make transactions without needing to wait for verification for days!
Sorry this post is a little haphazardly written and I didn't exactly flesh out my whole thought process (still at work trying to catch up from the long weekend), but let me know what you think of my analogy and how I can potentially build on it (I'm still learning as well), I would love to hear your thoughts. I know I was excited when it finally clicked for my coworkers. We may have some new Steemians coming our way!!! Thanks for reading everyone.
