Looking at the photo of this small statue I am getting confused. Is Buddha sleeping here?
Maybe he is just daydreaming? Or he is just enjoying his time on this shelve.
Could be also in a state of thinking...if yes, he is doing it with a lot of pleasure. His facial expression is kind of neutral but that small curved line upwards shows a sign of a gentle smile. Yes, he definitely enjoys peace of mind.
Anyway, how could he not have peace of mind? He is just a statue. He doesn't have to think about accepting an offer or not, like me. Something was proposed to me yesterday, and I haven't answered yet because I don't know if I want to accept it. Oh yes, that is the trick with the offers. They usually have some inviting features, but when you start to analyze all of them, doubts are coming to spoil the party.
But in my opinion, there are two kinds of offers.
The first version of them is when something is proposed, and you immediately refuse it. Later, you regret it a little bit - that you rejected it. Hmm, I am not sure if I explained well, let us see in a real example.
A few days ago I accidentally ended up in one chocolate shop {accidentally indeed}. There you can buy a wide variety of chocolate bars manufactured in the local chocolate factory (well, not exactly from our town, but that city is not far away from us), but also you can have a cup of hot chocolate and other yummy products. I ordered a cup of that strong, pure hot chocolate. It was my first of this kind after almost three months. I sinned.
the place I sinned...
Getting back to the point, we are talking about offers. I got an offer in that chocolate shop while enjoying my cup of that heaven: Go to someone quickly, touch his/her nose with my fingertip and make a silly sound, something like a beep sound and walk away as nothing happened.
Yeah, that was not the funniest part. The crazier thing was that the person who made the offer and I indeed took a short glimpse over the tables and decided who my victim would be. We have chosen a middle-aged man, with a black moustache having his time with his family.
The reward if I do it? One ETH just for me. Spend it how and when I want.
I refused.
And now I am regretting why I refused it without giving the idea a second chance {lol}
I wish I did it. Now it is late.
The other kind of offer is when you take your time to think, and probably overthink it at the end. However, you are trying to take your time as you don't want to regret later your compromise. It is not easy to make a decision when you start to analyze all the pros and cons of the proposal. Of course, we have to see them and decide what is the best.
So, yesterday I was offered a new gig (and with that, other new ones would probably come too). It would be very similar to what I am doing right now on Sunday mornings but in another city. What I don't like is that I would have to drive 45 km one way (and the same back). Even more, I don't like the fact that it would be every Friday evening, during the summer.
If you are a musician and you like to be paid for your skills, then you should not even think about not accepting it. But it seems that I got spoiled with this lockdown thing. I could not travel away for a month or two, as we usually do. Some years ago, there was a summer that I played every single day in a different place, some days I even had two gigs. After some time you just want not to have them anymore, as you are basically tied to your compromises. I reduced the number of gigs and it was better. Then, almost two years of not playing.
2022, and the business is back. The summer is coming and I know the manager will not stop offering me new gigs. So here I am, not wanting to refuse them but either wanting to work during the whole summer. At the moment I think I will refuse this one, as I should give him an answer soon so he could find another musician instead of me. But, then I will maybe regret my decision.
How do you manage to make decisions when you get an offer, for example for a gig or a concert? Do you think (and overthink) a lot? Or maybe you are the type of person that immediately makes a decision? If you would like to share your experience and point of view on this topic, I would gladly read it in the comment section :))
