It is just a little word that can change the meaning of a sentence so easily. It can be used as a conjunction, to indicate a contrasting part of a phrase. Also, we can use it as a preposition that in that case bring a different context to our statements. I don't know about you, but I use it many times in my sentences, replacing it sometimes with however, though, on the other hand, yet or similar. (hm, I think that not many options remained, just the word still, so let's add it to the list too).

Before you think that I am going to write a treatise on this short word but I have to clarify why I have started this post in this way. I am not an expert in the English language or in Spanish. If I think better, I don't even know which languge of all those I use is at the highest proficiency level anymore. It's all mixed by now. The more the merrier they say, but in the end, it is not that good. I dream in one language, think in another, speak in the one that the surrounding requires and write in this one you read right now. Anyway... I almost forgot that we were at the part of explaining why did I start this post with the tiny word but. Ok, let's go back to that business and stop again this tape that is not bringing real music.
So, a few weeks ago I saw one sticker on a lamp post, close to the shops where I usually go to do the grocery. Seems that I ignored the presence of this sticker until now as it can be seen that it is not a new one. It looks pretty old and washed out already. I recognized the Spotify logo but the written words didn't make sense: Alles Maar Alleen.
I tried with translation and it came out: All alone.
Luckily, some Hive Dutch friends were kind to help and make a more rounded translation.
Alles maar alleen can also mean All but alone or Everything but alone.
I was nicely surprised, as just that one little word, but, changed the meaning of these unknown words for me. I decided that this second option is what I will accept as the correct version. We can be everything, but we are never alone. Don't forget it!

I don't even know what he is singing about in his songs, so I am sorry if I am bringing here some crap inadequate music. Anyway I think not many users would understand the lyrics, and it's fine actually. The reason why he is coming to our little Q corner today is that the sticker that features him was just one of a few "music" stickers I found in the same street.

One of those that I liked a lot is the colourful collage that says Made in the 80s. (years are not to be discussed and asked, but somehow I found grace in this sticker). Although the artist whose music we can listen to in this post is probably from some next generation.
My guess is also that he didn't have the pleasure to use cassette tapes. Those were some years when you could buy the tape of the musician you liked at the moment, and run home with excitement to listen to it. I used to buy tons of recordable blank cassettes as I used to record my piano practice sessions and then listen to them. Correct my own errors and missed notes, and polish the parts that needed improvement. Like a teacher-student connection, in one.
There was another cassette tape sticker photo, but somehow I see it too much for this post. If anyone is interested in how that other sticker is, I can post it in the comment section, but at the moment I think I will slowly finish here adding just one more photo, with an obvious message that would anyone who reads this post confirms.
