Last Friday, I had to travel to Dhaka, the capital of our country. Well, I had some emergencies in both Dhaka and my Hometown so I had to make that trip complete in less than 24 hours. Maybe that's the shortest one I had taken so far in Dhaka. Actually, the journey is too tiring so it's kinda hard to manage when you have a huge workload to complete in the meantime. Got some pleasant and dissatisfactory experiences that I would like to point out here.
Many of you might know that I love train journeys at night. I also have a favorite saying, " A night train journey with a window seat, a pair of my earphones, and a favorite playlist is enough to travel a thousand miles." Yeap, it's true. I have always preferred such journeys, I had to pay some extra bucks just to ensure a window seat for me ignoring the other cheaper ones available. The journey was as perfect as I thought it would be. So the first experience was quite good.
I reached at midnight, and the next day I had to finish my task early in the morning and was free to visit the city with a friend of mine who lives there. As I had limited hours we had to make a scheduled plan of our destinations that we selected. But in Dhaka, the most crucial thing is time management, even the destination of five minutes may eat fifty minutes sometimes, thanks to those gigantic traffic jams. From my past living experiences, I did well in this section. I did my summer shopping because the coming days are going to be very busy for me. Visited the biggest tech accessories selling mall and brought an UPS. Trust me, its been six days and I haven't got the opportunity to test its backup because load shedding is very rare in my place, a blessing, hehe. I had brought it because the summer is here, more or less I want to stay prepared for the troubles usually summer brings for electricity to drop frequently.
I am visiting Dhaka and there would be no tempting food? That's impossible. Kacchi is one of the most tempting foods in Bangladesh and Dhaka is the key point to get a vast amount of options available to you to have the best Kacchi. There are a few renowned names and I want to try them all. So we tried a new one that we haven't visited before. Kacchi is basically prepared with mutton, basmati rice, and big potatoes. But being hungry we took Chicken roast, Jali kabab and Borhani included as a package with the Kacchi. That's a heavy meal but we are foodies, this is nothing, especially when you are having a restless day. Just a picture because when the food is near, the temptation is not controllable to manage for pictures, hehehe.
This part is the most interesting one that made this trip memorable for me.
I had my return tickets for 3.20 pm. Anyhow, I had to be at home before 9 p.m That's why I purchased that one so that I don't face anything bad. The journey was expected to take 2 hours. I was so tired that my legs were not even moving properly, with so much stuff along with me to carry, though my friend helped which eased my burden. Train was late, no problem, I got enough backup time to tackle this but the problem was that I was so tired that I might fall asleep on my journey. Same thing happened, my friend escorted me and I fell asleep on the train. When I woke up I was just 20 minutes away from my destination. If I hadn't awoken at that time then I might have passed my station and gone to another city. I had purchased a ticket from the starting to the ending point because of the lack of ticket availability so no one could interrupt me midway.. Immediately I took a coffee and prepared myself so that sleep doesn't get control over me again. Thanks to the Almighty that I woke up at the right time, otherwise the hassle I would have had to take is beyond description.
The pollution and the traffic jams are the two biggest pains of being in Dhaka. No one can deny this. I had started my day very early just to avoid these two for some moments. Well, I used to curse Dhaka a lot for these two drawbacks but seeing my own city being grasped by the same curse is kinda disheartening. Getting stuck in the same place for fifteen minutes blew my mind today, I hate to go out in the daytime just because of this jam and the polluted air. One can easily see the vast amount of dust floating in the air and the breaths you are taking are too horrible. Summer is coming, on top of these two, the scorching heat will be added to make things more painful.
