I often see people having the tendency to change products with time, upgrading to the newly released ones. For example, iPhones, we are seeing 15 series now. Do you think people who own 13 or 14-series iPhones are in need of upgrading to 15-series? I have mentioned 'need' because flagship devices like them can easily serve three to five years smoothly. People change them to show off or for a little performance boost, not because they need to. That iPhone was, for example, the same thing happens with other cases too.

On the contrary, I am that person who would love to stick to a product until it dies or bottlenecks with my needs. As long as it can serve my purposes, I don't have any wish to change it just because I can have an upgrade for showoff purposes as well. I don't mind using a product for years, not at all.

Here you go; this has been one of my daily drivers for almost four years. Yeah, MI Band 4 was released in September 2019, and I got this from my elder brother during that time, so it's almost four years. The lineup has gone to 8 now, I guess, and I am happy with my band four and would love to stick to this in the coming days as well, as it can still serve my purposes smoothly, better than a few out there, to be honest. Now, there is a trend of smartwatches, keeping aside the flagship ones; the budget smartwatches have the biggest concern of battery life, which is a big factor for me to consider, and that's why I am stuck to my mi band happily. I have other watches to fit with my other needs.

Why is it still different, you know?

I changed the strap when the original one was damaged; I brought it from China through Daraz. It is a metal strap that looks kind of different from the mass and lasts long. I don't think any typical ones that are available in the local market would have lasted this long. Also, the looks, absolutely different from the others, never backdated. Don't you think this is simple yet unique enough to stand out among the masses?

About my needs and services?

First of all, it operates for more than 20 days with one full charge pretty easily, and that's a huge relief for me because charging products over and over again is like a headache for me. On rainy days, this one is my first choice; when traveling, this is it to keep my phone connected for the calling and message notification alerts. I don't use other features that much; most of the users don't after a couple of months. So, in that sense, this one is still coping with my needs; also, it hasn't broken or hasn't malfunctioned yet.

So yeah, as a minimalist, this habit of mine is more than satisfying. I don't really think that we have to change with every single upgrade on everything we have. Let's extract the best out of it as long as it can serve our needs; when it starts to bottleneck with our demands, then go for an upgrade.
