Fabric
Quilting is away to reuse and repurpose material by stitching bits of fabric together.
This brightly colored quilt was made by an online friend in Canada and mailed to me to gift to a young mutual friend who was expecting her first child. We had agreed that the tie-dyed Fabrics would fit her personality far better than the traditional pastels usually used in baby blankets.
This quilt was being displayed on a library wall, along with other bits of history about pioneer life in the US. Quilting bees were important social events, where many women gathered around a quilting frame and often quilted to create a gift for some occasion, such as a wedding
Quilts become treasured heirlooms. A lot of time and love go into each quilt.
