One thing since becoming a dad I've come to realise is what even was life before kids? Did it actually exist? What did I even do with myself and what was the reason to live. I honestly don't remember much of my life before kids, I mean I know it's there and I remember what I did and got upto but was it really life?
One of my greatest tricks is when we go to our soccer club to get dinner I'll spend a few dollars winning a prize for little miss and she thinks I'm the best dad ever and gets excited. She walks around with a big ego after all the other kids and parents have tried to win something with her chest puffed out Yeah my dads awesome
I love brining joy to my kids.
Little bloke is at his age of discovery and I love this part of raising children, where everything is new and everything is a first time. He tries to be like dad a fair bit and like little miss loves hitting the weights. Although he's a little too over excited and tried to lift all the big weights.
He's also starting to talk and pronounce words they're kind of muffled but he can ask for things. I thought I was imagining it at one stage until I watched little miss and lil bloke playing and he was asking for things and little miss too could understand the words he was saying. They all sound the same a dah or a mah or a wah but they are toned and pitched to make words. It's cute.
Although, wrestling matches are getting quite hard these days with little miss delivering some heavy blows and some epic ju-jitsu moves to choke me out. She's learned not to take on my body but go for the throat 🤣
Lil bloke comes in pretty hard too and that's mainly because little miss doesn't know her own strength and hits him pretty hard. His sporting a black eye from a wrestling match turned fight between the two of them. I get so paranoid going out because people are like "what happened there?" I feel like a bad parent.
I remember asking my wife the other day what our lives were like before kids because I honestly don't remember the purpose or having this much joy in it. Don't get me wrong wifey has always been an awesome person and it's why we have been together for so long but.... it's so much better being a family and raising kids together. Brings a whole new perspective to life to the world and living.
I kind of wish we took the plunge and had kids sooner because I feel like I have wasted a large portion of my life not having them in it. It was scary learning I was going to be a dad but those fears are long gone and I know the way I'm raising my kids is fine and they will be OK.
How was your life before kids?
