馃弸Mazzle's Getting Fit - Working Out Your Why When Goal Setting 馃弸
Know Your Why Before Smashing Those Goals
I've recently really amped up the goal setting for the members of my gym recently, which is why this topic has suddenly found it's way to Steemit.
One extremely good point that one of my trainers raised today is that working out "why" you want to achieve your goal is incredibly important. For the simple fact that if you haven't clarified your "why" it's going to be very easy to give up on achieving your goal.
The "why" behind your goal can be anything, but it needs to be the real reason behind wanting to achieve your goal.
My goal is to be able to achieve 10 consecutive pull ups. The reason why I want to do this is for a small number of reasons:
- Being able to do 10 pull ups will mean that I have built up a reasonable amount of strength
- When I feel strong my confidence improves
- My energy levels are higher when I feel strong
- My posture improves dramatically when I feel strong - which in turn helps my confidence
Understanding the "why" behind your goal greatly improves your motivation and drive to achieve your goal. And this is why it is such an important thing to identify.
My workout for the day!
Today's workout was all about getting those pull ups done. I did the following:
- 8 sets of as many pull ups as I could do
- 8 sets of lat pull downs
- 5 sets of cable flies
- 5 sets of lateral raises
- 5 sets of chin ups
I'm now exhausted but happy.
The workout music of choice for today was Rammstein - Asche Zu Asche
So what's your why? Tell me in the comments!
