Goals! Goals Everywhere!
After a weekend of way too much food and beer, it's time to talk fitness again.
I've always been a bit of a goal setter. I have a tendency to set goals for everything but find that setting big goals doesn't work too well.
Personally, I like to set little goals. Goals that can be achieved over a reasonably short period of time. For example, right now I have set some very simple goals for my business:
- I have set targets for how many memberships I must personally sell every week
- I have set targets for which cost cutting measures must be achieved by certain due dates
But I also set many goals in my personal life. And right now, I have set small goals for my fitness.
- The fitness goal that I discuss in todays video is my goal to be able to achieve 10 consecutive pull ups by May this year.
Of course, this isn't my only fitness goal. I have a few. But the message that I wanted to communicate today is:
Your fitness goals don't always have to be associated with weight loss or muscle gain. You can have fitness goals for many aspects of your fitness, including being able to achieve certain types of exercises, such as being able to do 10 push ups on your toes.
I also make my goals known. Whether this means telling my wife what I want to achieve or even doing something a little crazier - I've actually written my pull up goal on the board in the gym so that my entire gym membership base can find out what I want to achieve.
By making my fitness goal this public, I'm now more motivated than ever to succeed. People even come up and ask me how I'm going with it which is even more motivating. My chances of failure are almost none now that the goal is so out in the open.
Set yourself realistic and achievable goals and start working on them. Make sure you dedicate time every day to work on your goals.
To achieve this fitness goal I recently started to stop work at 2pm every day for an hour so that I can exercise in my gym. It's a time when the gym is quiet and I can have the place to myself. Which means there are fewer distractions and I can just get the job done.
What are your fitness goals? Let's make them public in the comments below!
