As we age we do get wiser. I remember as a kid hearing, reading or being told; "as you get older you get wiser."
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I was part of the streets. It hardened me because I needed to be as tough as I could be or at least demonstrate that you will claw and chew your way through a fight before you coming out on the other side bloodied.
I managed to navigate the streets enough not for it to end my existence, but I battled typical demons hanging around in those streets. I had a great mother, amazing sisters and a lot of family all living in a vicinity to keep me balanced, but the street scene, that turned into the club and party scene as you get older and next thing you know you wasted a bunch of years.
It can depress a person. Am I right?
Yes, but I rather be positive even if I'm drowning in negatives.
At 20 you believe you are Superman or Wonder Woman but by the time you reach 60 it's using the productive things you learned along the way and using them to put you in a position to be at peace with where you at in life.
There are so many things that don't matter when you get older.
The only damn thing that matters is whether you are 20,40, 60 or 90 that you feel free. I value health. I've been on health and fitness journey for over 14 years. When you go on this type of journey you realize how bad we treated our bodies to that point.
I take care of my health because I want to be a viable and a self sufficient older gentlemen. I want to be free. I don't want someone taking care of me. I don't want anyone trying to intimidate me because I look vulnerable. I don't want to walk with a cane, be in a wheelchair, be in bed for days on end, or have medicine cabinets full of medication.
Even when I get sick, I want to be strong enough to live through whatever comes at me.
That attitude goes towards everything that is important in my life including my marriage and all the great things that come from it, I value my freedom.
I don't know most of your lives and not sure if you are afforded the freedoms we have here in the USA, but lately there seem to be the notion that freedom is being tested.
I don't want to be rich. I just want the freedom to not worry about money because I will have enough to take care of my family and to allow us a little fun lol.
Sometimes, when things look bleak personally or around me, I always wake up thankful that
1. I woke up so I'm blessed to live another day
2. That along with waking up, I am blessed to have the woman who is the most important person in my life.
3. Having the freedoms I've never taken for granted.
If you read this far. You are awesome and thank you.
