Hello dear #ShadowHunters community,
This is my entry for the ShadowHunters SMASh contest number 430.
There are places where light doesn’t just illuminate — it quietly shapes what we see.
This photograph captures the shadow of a coconut palm in Varadero, Cuba. At first glance, it may seem like a simple coastal moment, something common in a landscape where palms are part of everyday life. Yet shadows have a way of transforming the ordinary into something worth pausing for.
Here, the palm is not shown directly. Instead, what remains is its imprint on the sand — a pattern drawn by sunlight, stretched and softened by time and angle. The fronds become lines, almost like brushstrokes, forming a natural composition that changes with every shift of light.
In coastal places like Varadero, attention often goes to the sea and its bright horizon. But sometimes it is the quieter elements — the shadows, the traces, the negative spaces — that reveal a deeper sense of place. This shadow feels like a brief translation of the palm into another language, one made of light and absence.
The sand becomes a temporary canvas, and the sun becomes both creator and storyteller.

Hola querida comunidad #ShadowHunters,
