Mónica se levanta afanada,
se quedó dormida y hoy trabaja,
sale caminando sin mirar nada
y se tropieza con la mesa parda
y pierde la cabeza que llevaba.
Tras el susto, con sus manos
busca la cabeza que ha extraviado,
la encuentra y la pone de inmediato,
aunque con esta ve raro,
pero no tiene tiempo de seguir buscando.
Monica gets up in a hurry;
she overslept and has to work today.
She walks out without looking where she’s going
and trips over the brown table,
dropping the head she was wearing.
After the scare, she searches with her hands
for the head she’s lost,
finds it, and puts it back on right away,
even though it makes her look strange,
but she doesn’t have time to keep looking.
Se para con mucho afán
y toma su bolso que en la silla está,
sale de casa, bien tarde va
y en el trabajo la van a regañar,
porque siempre dicen que debe ser puntual.
Un perro la vio pasar
y sin dudarlo se fue detrás,

She gets up in a great hurry
and grabs her purse, which is on the chair,
leaves the house, and is running very late,
and at work they’re going to scold her,
because they always say she has to be on time.
A dog saw her walk by
and, without hesitation, followed her,
it’s just that Monica was carrying something else,
and where she should have had a head,
she had a cookie with an unparalleled aroma.
Mónica no comprende lo que pasa
hasta que frente a un espejo pasa,

Monica doesn't understand what's happening
until she walks past a mirror,
discovers that her head looks strange,
it's not the one she originally had,
and so she goes back home.
There she sees her head on the floor
and swaps it out without a second thought;
the dog watches the whole thing
until he eagerly grabs the cookie
and takes it to his room.
El perro logró su misión
y una galleta de comió,
pero, Mónica a su trabajo no llegó

The dog accomplished his mission
and ate a cookie,
but Monica didn't make it to work,
and that didn't matter—
it was Sunday, and she didn't even notice.
