Un arlequín estaba sentado,
en una silla color pardo,
permanecía mirando un jarro,
que tenía una rama de árbol.
La rama no se contonea,
siempre permanece quieta,
el arlequín a la espera se recuesta
y se queda dormido de rápida manera.
A harlequin was sitting
on a brown chair,
staring at a jug
that had a tree branch in it.
The branch does not sway,
it always remains still,
the harlequin waits, leans back,

La rama aprovecha el momento
y sale del jarrón sin miedo,
se desliza por el suelo,
va andando sin misterio.
El arlequín despierta en ese momento
y alcanza a tomar la rama con sus dedos,

The branch seizes the moment
and leaves the vase without fear,
sliding across the floor,
walking without mystery.
The harlequin awakens at that moment
and manages to grab the branch with his fingers,
embracing it. It is a beautiful being,

Le habla por un rato
y luego la deja en el jarrón cercano,
la rama se duerme de inmediato
y el arlequín se queda a su lado.

He talks to her for a while
and then leaves her in the nearby vase,
the branch falls asleep immediately
