“I'm actually dumbfounded as to how clueless I was as a first time mom, in a doctor's office.
I just went in, the doctor said this is what you do at this visit, "all babies get their shots."
I had no idea what our son was getting, nor how many at once. And thinking back at it, I wasn't even told what they were to "prevent?!"
Risks and side effects? Ha. Didn't even get brought up.
I just sat there, holding him and let them do whatever without question..
I feel so embarrassed to admit at how easily I just let that happen..
I wasn't pro or anti vaccine, I had no idea either existed.
Again, clueless.
But that's my point.
I. was. clueless.
Just in and out. See you again in 2 more months!
Wait, why?
For another well visit!
Why will he need another? Do these only last 2 months at a time?
That's just what you do!
Okay...
But we never made it back in again 2 months later.
Because after this visit, our son stopped breathing in his sleep (SIDS). He DIDN'T die, only because he was wearing an owlet monitor, which allowed me to save his life, and race him to the ER. He then got RSV and developed eczema.
No one could tell us what happened. Tests, monitoring, exams, ekg's, no answers.
I made a "thankful for the owlet" post, begging every mama to get one. It saved our sons life.
And boom, flooded in answers.
Interesting, our pediatrician, whom this is their literal profession, didn't inform me of literally anything.
What VAERS is. What the National Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 is. That a religious exemption exists because MRC-5 and other ingredients go against our faith. That these "safe products" in use is immune from liability or that our 5lb son was getting the same dose as a 280lb man, just to name a few.
Oh, but Mothers did.
Mothers did.
I owe everything to them, because now I'm close to a decade deep and 3 healthy kiddos, who've never been sick.
Sicknesses is not normal.
Your kids are being poisoned.
And you deserve to be fully informed about it.”
