In life, we can notice in our surroundings that everyone has told a white lie at least once in life. What is a white lie? Well, it is very simple to understand it's like when a person who lies to avoid hurting someone or they want to avoid some bad situations. It is considered harmless, but I don't think the same way, I feel it's complicated depending on the situation.
I won't say that I have never lied before, but I won't address it as a white lie. Because a lie is a lie, why would I try to justify it by naming it "white lies"? I'm mature enough to take the accountability of my actions. I would call it white lies if it was a lie told to the teacher about homework, or lying about eating a chocolate secretly, or making a birthday suprise or anniversary surprise.
So, lying for these kinds of stuffs are not going to hurt someone or it's nothing unforgivable infact people like these kinds of lies as the intentions are pure. So, I won't lie to protect people I care about. Like they need to know the truth anyhow. If after some time they learn the truth from someone else, then they will lose faith in me, and if I repeat it at some point, they will not trust me again.
A white lie is something I believe should be used to give surprises or to joke around but not to hide something from someone. So long ago, one of my friends had shown her art to me, and instead of calling it perfect, I gave her a few compliments and advice so that she could make her art better. Why would I lie to make her feel better? I was not way too direct with my opinion. I did not want to discourage her. She needed an honest review with kindness, not fake reaction. I thought her as my true friend and wanted to see her successfully become an artist, that's why I do not support such lies.
Well, intention matters a lot, but that doesn't mean if an outfit is making someone look pale, we shouldn't inform them. Like I want someone to guide if my outfit was not suitable for me. I would take the feedback and observe myself, and if I feel he/she was right, then I would change. So, our bond feels more understandable. I know truths can be very painful, but we should never lie.
Also, I think there are many people who lie for no reason for every small thing because they have the habit of lying. So, white lies can become dangerous if they are used too often. One of my friend, he usually lies about everything. For example, I asked him if he had watched the new season of the series called "The Boys," and he said "Yes, finished it long ago." Then, when I asked him about the characters he liked the most, he was stuttering. He could not name any or describe any character or what the series was about.
So, he lied for a silly thing like this. When I asked why he lied, he said, "I don鈥檛 know." But my impressions about him are decreasing day by day. Because if he can lie about such small things, he can lie about big things, too. And when my trust is broken, it is very hard to rebuild. That is why I believe honesty should still be the foundation of every relationship. I have seen people when they get caught while cheating they say, "I did not want to hurt you. That's why I lied." Like there's zero sense in that kind of behaviour. So, do I think white lies are okay? Then, I would reply "yes" only sometimes, not for serious matters.
