Yesterday after work I met up with a former coworker for a walk. We live quite close to each other, she lives just outside of what's considered the city center. I just have to cross one of Stockholm's many bridges to get there 馃檪
The weather has been hot and humid for quite some time now but yesterday it rained a bit in the afternoon and as you can tell from the pictures, it was cloudy.
The picture above is maybe 500 meters from my place. The buildings in the background are on the other side of the water (which you can't actually see in the picture). The bridge I crossed is close to the tower cranes you can see to the left.
I know I have posted pictures from this area before. Here I was still walking to meet up with my friend.
And here at the marina, we met up 馃檪
We were walking along the water. In this area (like in so many areas in Stockholm) a lot of construction has taken place. These apartment buildings are quite new. My friend told me that a famous Swedish TV personality and author lives in one of these buildings. Apparently he bought 2 flats because he wanted more privacy.
A nice view 馃檪
Same spot as the last picture, just in the opposite direction.
It's common in Stockholm that paths are divided between pedestrians and cyclists. For some parts of this walk, the pedestrian lane, to the left in this picture, is actually too narrow for 2 people to walk side by side. (Unless you want to risk being run over by a cyclist). I don't want to get into this topic too much but most of the cyclists here are just not considerate at all.
An old industrial area. They will build apartment buildings there.
One of many new buildings in this area.
More water and buildings.
And boats of course 馃檪
Here we had more or less reached our destination. This is an area in Stockholm that's called Sundbyberg (in this picture you only see new buildings though, it's an old area). When you are there you actually get the feeling that it is a small city in itself. Not just a suburb with a center. Many people like this place because of that. I think it was almost 10 years ago I last was there.
We ended our walk, which was about 6 kilometers, with dinner. I enjoyed a vegan burger and yes, it definitely felt like I wasn't in Stockholm anymore. It was a nice 'adventure' outside of my usual surroundings.
This last picture is not really part of the walk. I took the subway back home and this is my street. It's messy at the moment due to all of the construction going on. The buildings to the left are brand new, not finished yet. But it was a nice sunset 馃檪 As you can see it had also been raining a bit. But we were fine during our walk.
Thanks for reading 馃尭
Love and blessings to you all 馃挌
