I would like to wipe some dust of this old drawing I made some years ago. It pictures one of my best friends on a horrible Saturday Night in Milan. For the people present that night, this image would say it all,... while for you who weren't there,... God knows what you are thinking right now!!!!
I will not call out names nor give any further hints on what happened that night, as I would like to remain friends with him :) So I will go through the drawing process instead :))
Most of you have seen mostly my hand drawn stuff, as in this last year or so I have been focussing on improving and try out the primitive basics of drawing with colors. Before acquiring a digital tablet I was already used to color in my hand drawn pieces on the PC, while with the tablet I went fully digital,... even if the reference sketch remained on actual paper.
Once the stuff has been imported on the computer, I proceeded in doing the digital inking,... I love this process on the PC because it allows you truly to try whatever you want, without fear of ruining the drawing (IF you have selected the right layer that is!).
As you can see, I wasn't really happy with the dog,... I thought it looked more like a pig originally,.. So I modified that easily.
Adding the background and background details is something I like to do a lot,... I like to add semi-hidden references which people who know what I am referring at can easily pick out for an extra laugh :))
The first layer of color in the digital world is something you can achieve with great easy, trying several different colors until you dont get the ones you like the best. A big big plus point indeed
What remains is perhaps the most time consuming part of it all, shading and light effects. A lot of experimenting and tries to get your drawing as polished as possible. You might have noticed that several other details have been inserted as well in this stage,... It is never too late to add stuff if you ask me :)
A small final note,... "AT MASS" in Piacentino (the dialect of my city) means "I`LL KILL YOU" ,... perhaps that was obvious enough!
