# Mis impresiones de 1883: El crudo y épico viaje que inició el universo de Yellowstone 🤠/ # My Impressions of 1883: The Raw and Epic Journey That Started the Yellowstone Universe 🤠

Hello, Hive cinephile community. Today I want to share my review and thoughts on a production that completely hooked me from the very first minute. If you enjoy stories of extreme survival, the Old West, and intense family dramas, stick around because this series is a true masterpiece created by Taylor Sheridan. I am talking about 1883, the prequel miniseries to the acclaimed television drama Yellowstone.
🤠 What is the story about?
The series takes us back to the late 19th century to witness the birth of the Dutton dynasty. We follow James and Margaret Dutton, who leave behind the poverty of Texas with their children to embark on a hazardous journey into the untamed American North.
Their trek across the Great Plains in search of a promised land takes place in a wagon train alongside a group of European immigrants who are completely unprepared to survive such a brutal environment. The group is led by Shea Brennan, a Civil War veteran haunted by his past who takes on the mission of guiding them through a trail fraught with outlaws, diseases, attacks, and an unforgiving nature that leaves no room for mistakes.
👥 The Characters Holding the Series Together
What truly makes this series outstanding is its stellar cast. Here is a brief look at the ones who steal the show:
- Elsa Dutton (Isabel May): For me, the soul of the series. She is the eldest daughter of the family and the narrator of the story. Watching her evolution is incredible: she begins as an innocent teenager thrilled by the adventure and ends up becoming a true frontier cowgirl.
- Shea Brennan (Sam Elliott): A Civil War veteran leading the caravan. He is broken inside due to a past family tragedy. He has a incredibly tough demeanor, but deep down, he genuinely cares about the life of every single person on that journey.
- James and Margaret Dutton (Tim McGraw and Faith Hill): They are the heads of the Dutton family. James is a quiet, lethal man who will do whatever it takes to protect his loved ones, while Margaret is the backbone of the household—a strong woman who refuses to be intimidated by anything.
💭 My Honest Opinion
I found this series to be an absolute masterpiece. What captivated me the most was how it completely discards the typical romanticized and pretty vision of the "Wild West." Here, the journey is painful, gritty, and brutally honest. Each episode delivers a constant tension where you feel any character could die in the very next minute; you truly feel the danger with every mile.
Visually, it is a masterpiece; the landscapes are breathtakingly vast, and the soundtrack completely immerses you in the era. Furthermore, it is only 10 episodes long, and the story wraps up beautifully. However, make sure to have some tissues ready because the ending will definitely move you to tears.
Has anyone here watched it yet? What did you think of the finale? Let me know in the comments below! 👇
