Greetings everyone,

I hope everybody is healthy and happy this new year (2022) especially my fellow Cebuano who just encountered the devastating typhoon Odette last December 16, 2021. Just keep the faith that we will rise again slowly.

This time, I'm still mourning the passing of my beloved grandfather last December 31, 2021, that supposedly a happy day to celebrate and welcome the coming year but turned into one of the saddest memory I could imagine.

Anyway, life must go on so I want to entertain myself with something that makes me happy just to ease the pain I have right now.

Since the signal is normally back I don't have to wake up at 1-3 am just catch up with the strongest internet connection or go somewhere for it. I will be posting often from now on and will just hope for the electric power to be fixed too.

Today I went home to take a rest from my grandfather place, and I want to cook something for the kids so now I'm sharing with you some recipes that I made today and I mostly make nowadays because of the fallen banana trees from the typhoon.

Saba banana

Saba is a type of banana that is mostly cooked in the Philippines, it can be eaten raw or made into different types of snacks. Now we fry it with brown sugar, salt and sesame seeds. Honestly, I never use to fry bananas with sesame but I have leftovers from my past recipes so I will give it a try.

Ingredients

  • Saba bananas
  • brown sugar
  • salt
  • oil

Procedures

  • while preheating the oil from the pan, peel off the banana skin.
  • when oil is already hot and bubbly time to add the bananas.
  • fry until golden brown.

  • add a pinch of salt.
    IMG_20220104_151048.jpg
  • followed the brown sugar and continue stirring until sugar caramelised.

  • lastly, add the sesame seeds and remove them from the fire and place them on a strainer to let the oil drip.

time to eat! I love how the sweetness and something salty with a nutty flavour of the sesame seeds. I enjoyed them with a hot cup of less sugar coffee for an afternoon snack today.

This time we love to enjoy eating bananas even they are not mature enough. We gather them and save them after the storm for we can not eat them for the next months or maybe we can but I think the price from the market will be doubled due to scarcity from the calamity that destroyed most of the plants.
