I realize my blog largely consists of cats, and delicious fattening foods and booze, but that isn't the norm for me daily. I'm a currently serving U.S. Marine and I'm in fairly good condition after 9 years of service because I know how to eat lean and stay lean. The burgers and ribeyes are more of a treat that I have to earn for myself. If I don't earn it, I don't eat it.
Right now I'm on a bit of a cut, so all the fun stuff is out of the window for now until I achieve my goals. No burgers, nothing fried or overly carby, damn sure no processed sugar and bullshit like that, and worse of all no booze for a while (maybe once a week). It's simple and spartan as fuck.
It is what it is.
If you want to get anywhere physically, you have to know when to turn it on and turn it off.
Below are some of my go-to meals when I'm being this strict.
Lean (extra emphasis on LEAN cuts) pan grilled pork chops and baked egg plant.
I usually do about 8 oz of meat in a serving equating to 40-60 grams of protein, maybe 10 grams of fat, minimal carbs from the eggplant. The eggplant is actually pretty filling and I think it tastes pretty good when seasoned correctly...for a vegetable.
A pound and a half of cod grilled in a pan, spinach and mushrooms.
Guys, this amount of cod has a fuckload of protein. I'm not even going to bother looking up the count. I was just really hungry that day.
Probably 80-100 grams...which is overkill for a single meal, but fuck it. Fight me.
ANYHOW BACK TO THE TOPIC AT HAND.
Spinach is spinach...I'm not Popeye and don't particularly enjoy it, but it's easy to shovel down and certainly has nutritional merits and it's extremely light on the calories.
Salmon baked with asparagus and mushrooms.
Pretty simple stuff. Normally I like to pan cook the salmon in a bit of olive oil but I was trying to cut some excess dietary fat that day, so baking worked. Salmon has a lot of good fats in it so if you're lacking on fats that day, it has a distinct advantage over the cod, and vice versa.
I'm not sure what you guys want me to say about asparagus...I like to call it despair-agus.
One good thing about eating asparagus is 30 minutes after you eat it, your piss will absolutely reek, and if you want to bottle it up and go toss it onto your enemies car or something...well, that's up to you. I mean, I would never do that.
Never.
Ok so back to the fucking topic again!
Breakfast while dining out: Egg whites, chicken breast, avocados, tomato, and of course; black coffee.
High protein, bit of good fats, and not a lot of garbage. The key to getting this kind of meal while eating out is to know where you are going and if they have those ingredients, obviously. Anytime you eat out while on cut you're taking a gamble, so make it a calculated risk so you don't throw your shit way off plan. Life is short and you don't have to be a hermit to achieve your fitness goals.
So learn what your basal metabolic rate is if you haven't already, grab a food scale, download MyFitnessPal or another calorie tracker to help you track what you're eating, and just workout and stay consistent. That's it. It's simple. It's butter.
And when you get a reasonable degree of success, grab a burger or something. Have a couple whiskies or beers (or a whole fuckin' bottle, or 12 pack in my case, but don't do that). The occasional cheat meal is a reward, and rewards will help keep you on track as long as you keep them in check.
That's all I've got for today's ladies and gents. Have a good one and have a drink for me.
