I took these photos of the Tokyo tower from afar. We haven't gotten close enough but maybe on the next visit we'll take a closer look. The Tokyo Tower was built in the 1950s and was the tallest structure built until it was surpassed by the Tokyo Skytree. It's not just a tourist attraction though, it has a practical use. It also operates as an active radio and television broadcast antenna aside from being a major tourist attraction. If you're ever in Tokyo, have a visit to the Tokyo Tower!
